Photographs from Zimbabwe 2007

This dog wears a collar to allow PDC to track her but the collar also has a metal front plate. If the dog is caught in a snare, the prongs will catch the wire, preventing it from cutting into the dog's throat. Snares are a big problem for dogs who leave the national park. No poacher purposefully catches a dog but many are caught accidentally. Why the dogs spend so much time outside the safety of the national park is the subject of research currently being conducted at PDC. -Botswana Photographs Photographs of Botswana - Photographs from Zimbabwe 2007
